I see dog training like a coach views a team.  You and your dog form a team and my job is to help you make that team function as well as possible in all aspects.  We will take your needs and your dog's needs into account, knowing that you have some needs in common and others that are different. When we recognize and understand how a team works and what each member's role is, we can reach agreements and achieve a harmonious relationship that results in mutual well-being.

The techniques I use are based on respect and well-being. I motivate the dogs I work with by using treats, play, toys, accompaniment and affection.  Wherever possible, I take advantage of pleasurable activities that are instinctual to the dog in order to motivate him as well. I do not use choke, prong or remote control collars, nor any tool or training method that has the potential to cause emotional or physical harm.

We will correct behavioral problems through obedience exercises, tailoring our training and behavior modification plan to your specific needs. In order to do this, we will discuss in detail the routines you have with your dog,  and carefully observe the context in which problems are arising, as well as your dog's emotional states, so that we can get to the root of the problems and solve them. 

I love to learn about canine language, and my ability to carefully observe dogs and their environments has led me to develop skills that allow me to easily understand what dogs communicate to us or to other animals. My intention is to share this philosophy with my clients and to provide them with tools that they can use with their dogs for the rest of their lives. I get great joy and satisfaction from the training process and seeing results.  When you and your dog work together and complement each other like the members of a triumphant team, I know I have done my job.  With me, the process of educating your dog is joyful and fun, but also a serious commitment for all involved.
